Description

Primary Health Centre Enugu-Nanka, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State has a total population of 10,949 with 8 settlements. The PHC is connected to Ofuobi general hospital Nanka and also has Elshaddai hospital as a close by hospital.
According to Mrs. Virginia Nwafor, the facility gets its supplies through the local government and purchase also. She stated that the general hospital is 4km away from the PHC.
She however emphasized on the need to update the maternity ward and examination couch as it is spoilt, as well as beds, and possibly an improved salary structure.
The PHC building is constructed independently with the building in good condition (it was re-painted in May 2010), the electricity supply is irregular, with a generator not in a working condition. The facility has a water tank with 24hours water supply.
There is quite satisfactory residential arrangement for the staff. The facility has no appropriate equipment for blood, urine and sputum testing.
Furthermore, it records 0-4 births monthly and in the absence of electricity, the use of torch light is employed.
The facility has no: community health extension worker, pharmacist, axillary midwife, laboratory technician.
