Mbanagu, Otolo Nnewi has a total population of 2,240.
According to Mrs. Ezike Joy Officer-in-charge, the PHC is linked to the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, with diocesan hospital Nnewi popularly called Akudo as its closest hospital.
Ezike said the facility gets its supplies from the local government and the open market. The facility is 3km away from the teaching hospital.
In the words of Mrs. Ezike, “I will like the media houses to encourage members of the community to patronize the facility because it is for them, but they seem to have abandoned the facility and chose to patronize private hospitals in the area.” Ezike also wants the media to help address the issue of nonchalance towards complaints.
The PHC has an independent building which is in a good condition, but with irregular power supply supplemented with a working generator.
Furthermore, the facility do not have an appropriate equipment for: Blood, Urine and Sputum testing; an alternative equipment for blood testing which is the heamoglobin scale is being used at the facility.
The facility records 0-3 births each month and in the absence of electricity during delivery the use of lantern is employed.
There is no residential provision for the health workers although the residential nurses occupies a room in the facility.
