Primary Health Centre Nanka 1, Orumba North in Anambra state has a total population of 18000 (under5) and has 4 villages under it. It is linked to Ofuobi General Hospital and also Chukwunonso hospital as a nearby hospital.
According to Mrs. Ezeibe ifeyinwa, the officer-in-charge, the facility gets its supplies through the local government service commission, she stated that the facility is 2km away from the general hospital.
She complained that the facility needs: a staff quarters, as the staff live within the community, security, and adequate manpower are also needed.
The PHC has an independent building which is in an okay condition, she also stated that the building was made out of mud and will be better if it’s demolished to build another out of concrete. It was renovated in October 2016.
The PHC has an irregular electricity supply and a generator which is not in working condition. It has an irregular water supply but there is an alternative facility.
The facility has no equipment for blood, urine, sputum testing.
The facility records 0-3 births each month and in the absence of electricity, the use of lantern or torch light is employed.
