Description
Primary Health Care Centre at Ifite Igboukwu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State is one of the few new built facilities. It moved from the old site to the new site in March 2016. Ifite has a total population of 27,520 and covers 4 villages, it is linked to Anglican maternity hospital Igbo-ukwu. It is not quite convenient for the villagers to access due to the bad road network.
The facility according to Mrs Anthonia Chigbo the officer-in-charge of the centre gets its supplies from the local government.
Anthonia complained of the bad road network, insecurity, lack of staff, and no electricity supply (although the facility has a generator in good working condition).
She went further to say that the facility had no provision for blood, urine and sputum equipment, the only form of blood or urine test done is for pregnancy, malaria, sugar level and Human IV.
From observation, it could be seen that the residential facility is still under construction.
The facility records zero to four births each month and in the absence of electricity during delivery, the use of torch light is employed. The facility have community health extension workers who act as nurses, midwives, pharmacist and others
