Description
Two buildings situated at Akenge, an outskirt of Igboora is Oke-Odo PHC in Ibarapa Central Local Government area of Oyo state. At this Center, there are no beds or pillows and the delivery room is not different from an asylum of a mad man.
The maternity section constructed in 1995 houses nothing but an untidy floor and without beds. The OPD section also cries for renovation.
There are no toilet facilities and this as lead staff and patient to resolved to ‘shot put’ system – (where one defecates inside a black nylon and throw it in a nearby bush).
Patients buy drugs and power supply is erratic. Torch and kerosene lanterns are used even in the labour room. No ambulance services in cases of emergency and referrals. In terms of laboratory services, only malaria test can be done at Oke Odo Primary Health Center meant to provide not less than the following services: immunization, family planning, delivery, ante and post natal, and treatment of minor ailments.
Though patients are attended to immediately because of the less patronage due to poor service delivery, there are 6 permanent officers who rotate morning, afternoon and night shifts amidst themselves.
