Description

The primary health center is not fenced neither does it have a security post. The PHC looks preferable as the community takes partial responsibility, It has 15 communities under its care, there are no close-by hospitals neither is the facility linked to any rural hospital. The facility was renovated in 2012 by community members, the rooms are okay. The PHC has a prepaid meter in its good form,and a working small generator. It has a laboratory where they conduct blood test like blood group, fasting blood sugar, HIV,HPV, urine test and sputum test.
The laboratory lacks adequate equipment. There is no ambulance service and Whenever there is power outage during emergency cases, rechargeable lamps and candles are used. It also has a solar-powered vaccine refrigerator for immunization, a pit latrine toilet made from corrugated iron sheets.
In as much as Igboya PHC looks preferable, it has its shortcomings such as inadequate equipment, the facility has just 4 staff which include a voluntary laboratory technician, also patients have to pay for blood test and other laboratory services rendered at PHC Igboya.
