Description

PHC Obiuno Igboukwu has a total population of 16,838 and has 6 villages under it.
According to Mrs Obiesie Chinwe the officer in charge of the facility, the PHC is linked to Anglican maternity, a close by hospital is Apex hospital at Ngo. She said that the PHC is very far from the general hospital at Ekwulobia.
The health department has constructed an independent building which is in an okay condition. It was last renovated in 2016 by the community.
There is no electricity supply at the PHC complimented by a generator which is not in working condition.
There is a separate water tank with 24hours water supply.
The toilet has no light in it and also the fetch and flush method is being used by the users of the toilet.
There is an arrangement of 3-5 beds, facilities in the inpatient department like the mattresses, bedsheets and pillow are all proper and clean.
There are no facilities for blood, urine and sputum tests, alternatively they make use of haemoglobin scale.
The facility does not admit patients but has recorded 461 treated patients.
Small surgeries like removing pus from wounds, removing boils and putting stitches take place in the facility.
It records 0-5 births monthly and during child birth in the absence of electricity they make use of torchlight.
The facility has no referral record register and as such has no record of referrals.
There is no ambulance available at the facility.
The facility has permanent medical officers and permanent community health extension workers, other roles are vacant.
The residential arrangement is unsatisfactory as most houses for staff are collapsing and cannot be lived in for fear of live however, workers live within the PHC village.
